If Dawna Fung’s voice sounds familiar, that might be because she used to work at Commercial Radio to broadcast live traffic news. From early morning rush hour to the last lonely drive home at night, her voice stayed with countless drivers, weaving through the city's tangled roads.
She learned to speak with precision, but also with a quiet warmth. And while she's swapped traffic updates for human stories, that old habit remains: she still believes a steady voice, well-placed, can get anyone through a difficult stretch.
Later on, as an intern field reporter at NowTV, where she covered different topics: the sweltering conditions of subdivided flats, the craft of local film restoration, property market ups and downs, non-profit funeral services, and even the cross-border tech park in Hong Kong‑Shenzhen. She tried a bit of everything—because that's just who she is.
That's where she gained her first real taste of TV production and, more importantly, met a bunch of passionate friends in the filming industry. Those friendships later sparked unexpected collaborations:
One of those projects is 'A Home In Limbo - The Story of a Refugee in Hong Kong', which premiered in 2022. This documentary follows the experiences of someone from the refugee community and explores what it means to wait indefinitely — for papers, for asylum, for a life that never quite arrives.
She is currently working on a documentary project with independent film maker Dor Lau to investigate the aftermath of conversion therapy in Hong Kong - more details coming soon!
A Home In Limbo - The Story of a Refugee in Hong Kong,於2022年首映。
